Tune in Wednesday at 9pm for selections from the Avery Fisher Career Grant awards concert recorded this past March in The Greene Space. The program features the 2017 honorees, including violinists Chad Hoopes and Stephen Waarts, pianist Haochen Zhang, and the Dover Quartet (violinists Joel Link and Bryan Lee, violist Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt, and cellist Camden Shaw). On this program, we’ll hear the award recipients play music by Mozart, Ravel, Prokofiev, and more.

Established by the late Avery Fisher in 1974, the Career Grants exemplify his love of music and his devotion to helping young artists. The awards are designed to give professional assistance and recognition to talented instrumentalists and chamber ensembles that show potential for major careers. Each recipient receives an award of $25,000 to be used for specific career-development needs. Up to five Avery Fisher Career Grants are given each year; the recipients are nominated by nationally recognized musicians, music educators, managers and presenters.
